Apna Ghar Scheme 2026 – Apply Online for Rs 15 Lakh Interest-Free Loan
The Apna Ghar Scheme helps low-income families across Pakistan build a home of their own. Through the Punjab programme Apni Chhat Apna Ghar, families who own a small plot can get an interest-free loan of up to Rs 1,500,000 — repayable in easy instalments of about Rs 14,000 per month — while the federal Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Program supports first-time home buyers through partner banks. This guide explains eligibility, documents, registration, instalments and application status checking, step by step.
✔ 100% interest-free • ✔ No application fee • ✔ First 3 months instalments waived • ✔ Verification by NADRA, PLRA & NSER
Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Program Official Banner
This banner carries the official programme information: the largest and easiest financing scheme in the country's history for people who want a low-cost house or flat — financing of up to Rs 1 crore for buying or building your home, at a subsidised rate of only 5%, has now been launched.

Financing of up to one crore rupees can be obtained in easy instalments for building or buying a house of up to 10 marla (2,720 sq ft), or for buying an apartment of up to 1,500 sq ft.
Repayment is spread over 20 years, and for the first ten years only a fixed 5% subsidised rental/markup rate applies — significantly lower than ordinary bank loans.
Applications can be submitted on the online portal, or at any branch of any commercial, Islamic or microfinance bank or HBFC across the country. Only people who do not already own a house or flat in their name are eligible.

View loan tiers →What Is the Apna Ghar Scheme?
Launched on 21 August 2024 by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and executed by the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA), Apni Chhat Apna Ghar — widely searched as the Apna Ghar Scheme — was created for a simple problem: thousands of families in Punjab own a small plot, yet rising construction costs keep them in rented or unfinished houses for years.
Instead of a commercial bank loan with heavy markup, the programme gives a 100% interest-free loan that is released in construction stages (tranches) as your house progresses. The instalment — around Rs 14,000 a month for the full loan — is deliberately kept close to what a family already pays as monthly rent, so owning a home costs no more than renting one. In 2026 the programme was also expanded so joint families can apply to add rooms or a storey on a shared family plot.
Two related programmes are often confused with it, and this guide covers all three honestly: Apni Zameen Apna Ghar (free 3 marla plot if you own nothing) and the federal Apna Ghar housing finance available through banks across Pakistan. The comparison table below keeps them separate so you apply to the right one.
Loan Amount, Instalment & Tenure
Borrow only what your construction stage needs. All three tiers are interest-free, repaid over 7 years, and the first 3 months of instalments are waived.
| Loan Tier | Best For | Monthly Instalment | Tenure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 500,000 | Washroom construction, roof repair, small additions | Lower instalment* | 7 years |
| Rs 1,000,000 | Upper portion / additional storey on an existing house | Medium instalment* | 7 years |
| Rs 1,500,000 | Complete new construction, major repair or extension on your own plot | Rs 14,000 (official) | 7 years |
*Exact instalment for the Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh tiers is shown on your approval letter and portal dashboard. The loan is disbursed in stages linked to construction progress, not as a single lump sum — this protects your family and the programme from misuse.
Eligibility Checker — 30 Seconds
Answer 4 quick questions for an instant indication. This is a guide only — final eligibility is decided by PHATA after NADRA, PLRA and NSER verification on the official portal.
1. Are you a permanent resident of Punjab (as per CNIC)?
2. Do you own a plot of up to 5 marla (urban) or 10 marla (rural)?
3. Is your household NSER / PMT score 60 or less (low income)?
4. Are you free of bank loan default and any criminal record?
Eligibility Criteria — Who Can Apply?
Your application is verified against NADRA family data, Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) plot records and your NSER poverty score, so every point below must be true on record — not just in your form.
- You are a permanent resident of Punjab, verified through your CNIC address.
- You are the head of your family according to NADRA records.
- You own a plot of 1–5 marla in an urban area or 1–10 marla in a rural area.
- Your household is registered in NSER with a PMT score of 60 or less.
- Your monthly household income is roughly Rs 60,000 or less.
- You live in a joint family and need to add rooms/storey on the shared plot (new for 2026).
- You are a defaulter of any bank or financial institution.
- You have a criminal record, especially for serious offences.
- You or your spouse already own a completed house (for the construction loan).
- Your plot is larger than the limit for your urban/rural category.
- Any information or document in your application is false — this leads to disqualification.
- You submit more than one application for the same family.
Documents Required
Prepare clear scanned copies before you open the portal. Blurry or mismatched documents are the most common reason applications get stuck in verification.
• CNIC front & back (applicant)
• CNIC of spouse (if married)
• Recent passport-size photograph
• Mobile number registered in your own name
• Plot ownership proof — Fard or registry
• Plot location / site photograph (if asked)
• Affidavit where the portal requires one
• NSER registration / PMT score details
• Proof of income, where available
• Marriage certificate (if applicable)
• Disability certificate (if applicable)

Which "Apna Ghar" Is Right for You?
Three different programmes are searched with similar names. Use this table to avoid applying on the wrong portal.
| Programme | Level | What You Get | Official Portal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apni Chhat Apna Ghar | Punjab | Interest-free loan up to Rs 15 lakh to build on your own plot | acag.punjab.gov.pk |
| Apni Zameen Apna Ghar | Punjab | Free 3 marla plot if you own no property at all | azag.punjab.gov.pk |

Government housing schemes attract scammers every year. Remember: applying is completely free; no genuine official will ever ask you to pay a "registration fee" to an agent, send money to a personal account, or share your CNIC OTP, bank PIN or mobile wallet PIN on WhatsApp. Enter your CNIC only on websites ending in .gov.pk, and use only the official helpline 0800-09100. If someone demands money in the scheme's name, report it on the helpline.

What is the Apna Ghar Scheme 2026?
